Santa will arrive by boat at the Town Quay at 11 am on Saturday 2nd December. He will be accompanied by the Chief Snowman, with his water reindeer (sea scouts) and met by the Town Mayor and they will parade through the town before Santa takes up residence in the Corn Exchange to receive children from midday. There will also be a charity tea & coffee shop alongside the grotto.
Our amazing Santa’s Grotto will be held on 3 consecutive weekends from Saturday 2nd December from 12 noon to 3pm, upstairs in the St Ives Corn Exchange.
These sessions are FREE, and each child visiting Santa will receive a gift. Donations of course are very welcome. This event is sponsored by St Ives Town Council and local businesses.
Bring your Hobby Horse and join in the first ever Hobby Horse Hunt.
Riders should gather in Market Hill outside The Golden Lion at noon on Boxing Day. All you need to join in is a hobby horse.
The demanding course will take the ‘riders’ around the town calling in at The Oliver Cromwell Pub, Nelson’s Head, Floods, The Royal Oak and finally The Golden Lion. There will be a series of riddles to solve at each venue. The winners will be the team with the most correct answers. This is an event for families with separate questions and prizes for children (under 16) and adults.
There will also be prizes for the best-dressed rider and horse.
There is a small entry fee for each team (from 1 to 4 people) who can be of any age. All money raised will go towards the Free Church Spire Fund.
