This 7 acre (2.8 hectare) reserve includes the remnants of the once worked Osier Beds, native tree species and beds of phragmites reed mixed with sedge. Whether you are enjoying the peaceful setting, or photographing the wildlife, we hope you enjoy your visit.

The island is open Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays between April and September, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. The island has a new boardwalk! It has been completed with the invaluable help from volunteers working with Rangers from Holt Island and Hinchingbrooke Country Park.

If you wish to visit the Island at any other time between April and September the key is available from the One Leisure St Ives and the Norris Museum (a returnable deposit will be needed). Use the links to the right for their websites to check current opening times. There are no toilet facilities on the island, the nearest public toilets are at the bus station approximately 1km away. There is time limited parking along The Waits on the way into St Ives town centre and many pay and display car parks within or near to the centre.

There are a number of seats around the boardwalk at good vantage points for wildlife spotting and relaxing by the river. A number of picnic benches have been set up on the sheltered open meadow in the centre of the Island.

Disabled Access

There is very limited parking near to the island but this is not dedicated disabled parking. The island has a circular boardwalk so it is suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs in all weathers.
