A flint hand axe found by Iris Bell in Somersham was confirmed by Dr Kevin Leahy to be a ‘pointed Lower Palaeolithic Acheulian flint hand axe’.
The St Ives Archaeology Group, Somersham Information Centre and the Norris Museum have joined together to put the find on display.
It can now be seen in the Somersham Information Centre during February. Alongside the hand axe is a display of archaeology books, reports of local archaeological excavations and photographs of other local hand axes and flints from the Norris Museum collection.
