St Ives will be ringing with the stamp of clogs, clash of sticks, jingle of bells and whoops and hollers next weekend as traditional dances are performed by three local sides (teams) on Sunday 2 June. The Town Team presents Sutton Masque (above), Coton Morris and Manor Mill Morris who will entertain the crowds with repertoires from the English-Welsh border, the Cotswolds and the North West – a dazzling range of styles and costumes that date back to the origins of ‘olde England’.
The action starts around noon on The Waits, moves down to Cromwell’s Statue and the White Hart in Market Hill around lunchtime, and finishes in style with a grand massed dance finale on The Quay late afternoon. Come along and enjoy the fun, tap your feet and even give it a try! It’s easy to get hooked.
