A cold but sunny morning at Broad Leas yesterday! 9 volunteers turned out to weed the wildflower area and plant snowdrops around the graves.
If you have any spare primroses, violets or other suitable 'old fashioned' flowers, we'd love to find them a home in the cemeteries.

Can anyone recommend a cleaner that works in the St Ives area? I would prefer not to use one of the larger companies as they don’t seem to clean as well as the independent cleaners.

Thanks!

A Wonderful Concert by The Chamber Orchestra of St Ives
What an absolute treat the concert-going public of St Ives enjoyed last night. At a packed Free Church, the Chamber Orchestra of St Ives gave us a faultless performance featuring pieces by Tchaikovsky (The Nutcracker Suite), Humperdinck (Hansel & Gretel) and Schuman (Symphony No.3 The Rhenish). We fail to see how the evening's concert could have gone any better.
Huge congratulations go to their acclaimed conductor Chris Hancock, to Orchestra leader Karen Hubbard, and to all the talented musicians who make up COSI. As Rotary President Elect Iain Martin said, "We really are most lucky here in St Ives to have such a tremendous concert orchestra within our midst, and tonight fully confirmed their high reputation"
Proceeds raised from the concert will go to support The Rotary Foundation, which is Rotary's own charity that gives aid and grants to projects both here and across the globe.
We mustn't forget to mention all those Rotarians who also put in a virtuoso performance last night, to ensure that our concert-goers were well looked after. Congratulations to the evening's MC Simon Townend, to Impresaro Philip Sadler, to Mel Sadler, Shirley Hand, Sally Heffer-Martin and Jackie Cox, for flawless interval management, and to Dereck Wheeldon, Iain Martin, Adrian Acton and Alan Ward for their front-of-house efforts. Well done team.

Haydn’s masterpiece and perhaps best-known work, is a depiction in music of the events of the book of Genesis; how God created heaven and earth, man and woman and all the creatures. Written for chorus, orchestra and three soloists, it has exciting and energising choruses and arias ranging from the dramatic to the ethereal, including the notable mention of the worm in the bass aria. With a dynamic line up of soloists, an orchestra of local professionals and St Ives Choral Society under their Director Alison Daniels, this promises to be an evening not to be missed! ...

You can now send your bottle tops for free via your local post office. Just pop them in the envelope with : Freepost LUSH GREENHUB ♻️♻️♻️
#lush #recycling #reuse #plasticfree #lushtaunton

EDIT and FAQ - Thank you for all of your questions about our bottle top recycling.

The address you can send them to is Freepost LUSH GREENHUB. Please ensure all bottle tops are packaged well in either a carboard box or envelope (we do beleive this is UK only, we will keep you posted if this changes)

- TYPES OF BOTTLE TOPS YOU CAN SEND : small plastic bottle tops made from any plastic compound (Lush bottle caps, milk, soft drinks, sports cap drinks, fabric softener caps etc). Unfortunately, we are not able to take large, thick plastic lids (like coffee jar lids) as these do not go through the small granulator.

- If customers have the ability to recycle bottle tops themselves (this is becoming much more common now), then that’s brilliant! We are just offering an option to anyone who cannot recycle these through their home recycling. We would always encourage people to recycle materials as locally as possible.

- These bottle tops are processed and sent to another company (Storm Board in Somerset) to be made into the bottle board used in many of your stores and has also been used for furniture etc too. Bottle tops are not made into our black pots.

- The Bottle Board is then used for useful things from wall cladding to furniture and beehives. They've even been used to make a play area at a refugee camp in France.

- Due to the size of our Greenhub, we only have the ability to process relatively small amounts, so we are unfortunately not able to encourage local businesses and organisations to send us their bottle tops in bulk. This scheme is designed for our customers to bring in their personal-use tops. BUT, we would love to encourage any businesses contacting us about their bottle tops to find a recycling route for the lids and we really encourage their enthusiasm to recycle! If we are able to accept more in future, we will communicate this asap.

For further queries please feel free to contact our customer care number 01202 668545 or email us at [email protected] or feel free to send us a tweet @LushLTD

Happy Recycling, Love Lush Taunton <3
