Megson performed to KS1 children at Wheatfields last year. It was a fabulous show; this will be worth tuning in to! 🎶The first LIVE STREAM of our Family Folk Show will be on Friday at 3:00pm via FaceBook live!
We will be playing songs from our WHEN I WAS A LAD & LITTLE BIRD children’s folk albums and will be getting you all involved too with actions and suggestions for parts of the songs! And if you’re older you can still join in with the actions - even better now as no one will see you 🙂
Our only request is that you forgive us if our dogs join in at various points in the show!
See you soon

A perfect explanation for childrenFor those with children who may find it hard to explain what is going on, this makes a lovely bedtime story. 💤
The Time We Spring-Cleaned the World 🌱
The world it got so busy,
There were people all around.
They left their germs behind them;
In the air and on the ground.
These germs grew bigger and stronger.
They wanted to come and stay.
They didn’t want to hurt anyone -
They just really wanted to play.
Sometimes they tried to hold your hand,
Or tickled your throat or your nose.
They could make you cough and sneeze
And make your face as red as a rose.
And so these germs took over.
They started to make people ill,
And with every cough we coughed
More and more germs would spill.
All the queens and kings had a meeting.
“It’s time to clean the world up!” they said.
And so they had to close lots of fun stuff,
Just so these germs couldn’t spread.
We couldn’t go to cinemas
Or restaurants for our tea.
There was no football or parties,
The world got as quiet as can be.
The kids stopped going to school,
The mums and dads went to work less.
Then a great, big, giant scrubbing brush
Cleaned the sky and the sea and the mess!
Dads started teaching the sums,
Big brothers played with us more,
Mums were in charge of homework
And we read and played jigsaws galore!
The whole world was washing their hands
And building super toilet roll forts!
Outside was quiet and peaceful,
Now home was the place for all sports.
So we played in the world that was home
And our days filled up with fun and love,
And the germs they grew smaller and smaller
And the sun watched from up above.
Then one morning the sun woke up early,
She smiled and stretched her beams wide.
The world had been fully spring cleaned,
It was time to go back outside!
We opened our doors oh so slowly
And breathed in the clean and fresh air.
We promised thar forever and always
Of this beautiful world we’d take care! 💕

I live in Peterborough and my 83 year old mum lives in St. Ives. Just wondering if anyone knows if Morrison’s is doing any sort of phone in delivery service for the elderly. I’ve tried to get on Morrison’s and Tesco sites but in light of tonight’s announcement I think the increase in traffic has crashed the sites. My mum is not an internet user. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks ...

We have had more shielding guidance from the Department of Health and Social Care following our post this morning. Based on what we now know, our clinical leads have helped to create a list of the people with asthma who are to be advised to stay at home for at least 12 weeks. You can check this list in full here 👉 www.asthma.org.uk/coronavirus
Anyone who falls under these categories should be contacted from tomorrow. If you think you should be contacted but don’t hear anything by 29 March, you should discuss your concerns with your GP or hospital clinician. As ever, our advice is to err on the side of caution while you wait. ...

I produce so much free fitness content online and I never ask for anything in return but today I need your help 🙏🏼 I need your support to help spread this online so as many parents as possible know that this is an option for them to use next week. I am hosting LIVE workouts at 9am Monday to Friday on my YouTube channel for children of all ages. All I need is for you to screen shot this and post it on your wall, story, Twitter, facebook, whatsapp, linked in and anywhere else. Parents are going to be under pressure next week and for 30 minutes a day I can take over and inspire and energise the kids to get active, bounce around and have fun.
You can even join in with the kids. Please share away. This is going to help millions of children and parents feel happier for 30 minutes and beyond everyday ☺️❤️ #PEwithJoe

To all our wonderful customers,
Lydia and I have this morning made the difficult decision to close all three Eric’s Fish and Chips for a period of a week.
As a team we believe that we can offer an excellent take away service during these tough times, however we only want to do this when we are confident that it is in the safest environment for our staff and customers.
We’ll be spending this week putting together clear procedures for everyone to follow so that great fish and chips can be enjoyed safely over the next few months and beyond.
We’re so sorry for all of our customers that were planning to visit us over the next few days but hope you can understand the decision.

Hi everyone. I hope you are well. Please contact me if you think there is anything we can do to help you, our members or any of those nearby who need something: Shopping, prescriptions collecting, dog walking, links to YouTube exercise videos(!), homeschooling advice (😳), a friendly phone call, bins putting out, or anything else you can think of.
I am starting to hear of local food businesses that are delivering or offering collection services. 2 local ones are Nuts Bistro in St Ives and Cambscuisine, who run The Cock in Hemingford. Please message me with any more as you hear about them and I am very happy to spread the word.
Please also bear in mind that if you have accidentally stockpiled things that you don't use or need, please consider donating to the St Ives Foodbank run by All Saints Parish Church, St Ives. You can drop things off at the church or the Vicarage on Westwood Road. If you or anyone you know needs help please call them on 01480 384334.
Remember we are now St Ives & Fenstanton Timebank and we have members in various surrounding villages and in Huntingdon. It is with deep regret that due to COVID-19 we must advise our guests that Slepe Hall Hotel will close temporarily to the public from 9 p.m. this evening Friday 20th March 2020. We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future and in the meantime stay safe and positive during these challenging times.
