SCREEN ST IVES ANNOUNCE NEW SEASON
We are proud to announce a new season of exciting films, screening twice a month from October 2018 to March 2019.

Our specially curated selection features SSI’s customary wide range of superb films from around the world, including recent releases such as Paddington 2, The Greatest Showman and the highly praised thriller Beast, a remarkable debut from British director Michael Pearce.

The season launches in Screen 2 (S2) with a stylish modern noir: Beast is set in Jersey and stars Jessie Buckley and Johnny Flynn. In Screen 1 (S1) we present the beautiful and romantic Oscar-winning The Shape Of Water.

As the evenings draw in we are very happy to show in S2 the newly restored classic 1960s drama A Taste of Honey starring Rita Tushingham in her first film. Music is at the core of Le Concert in S1. A shamed conductor who once led the Bolshoi Orchestra plans one final concert.

Christmas is all about our favourite bear Paddington 2 in Screen 1 while Wes Anderson’s witty and touching animated Isle of Dogs is our Screen 2 Christmas show.

To kick off the new year, S2 are showing I Got Life! a heartwarming and funny French film about middle-aged Aurore, who is making her way through a new phase in her life. Enjoy winter cheer in the depths of January with the blockbusting story of PT Barnum in The Greatest Showman in Screen 1.

Celebrating LGBT History Month in S2’s February schedule, we’re delighted to present the breathtaking and timely A Fantastic Woman, starring Daniela Vega. In S1, Nick Park’s hilarious animation Early Man brings warmth to late winter evenings.

The season closes in S2 with Sally Potter’s The Party, a sharp comedy of manners (and bad manners!). S1 ends its season with Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri a multi award winner in 2018 featuring a stellar performance by Frances McDormand.

Everyone is welcome to our friendly accessible screenings and tickets cost only £5, available online, at the Corn Exchange, St Ives in advance, or on film night. Booking for S2 is advised.

St Ives Town Council is participating in this years national Heritage Open Days. The Town Hall will be open from 10am to 4pm on both Friday 14th and Saturday 15th September. There will be a chance to visit the council chamber and have a look at the Council's civic regalia including the mace, robes, chains and hats. there will also be information on hand telling some of the history of the Town Hall and regalia.

Heritage Open Days is England's largest festival of history and culture, bringing together over 2500 organisations, 5000 events and 40,000 volunteers. Every year in September, places across the country throw open their doors to celebrate their heritage, community and history. It’s your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences – and it’s all FREE.

St Ives is participating in this celebration with 12 of the town’s most impressive buildings open to the public; many are putting on special displays or exhibitions. Full details of who is participating and the dates and times they are open are shown in the poster below. Children and families are most welcome. Several buildings are not normally open to the general public so this is a great opportunity to get a ‘behind the scenes’ look.

*Corrections - Edited Description* Indeed the eagle-eyed members among you have correctly spotted that these images were taken earlier than originally stated - these photos are from ~6th May 1935, at the Jubilee Celebrations along the Broadway St Ives. 👀

Next week we will post the correct photographs from the 1951 Festival of Britain celebrations, also taken in the Broadway St Ives! Sorry for the confusion.
